I smoked the 1Q in a pipe reserved for CBR and was disappointed. This is a good blend from Lane. A pure simple black cavendish, mellow and smooth. It's that good. They are also usually very moist and due to the propylene glycol they are treated with can . Light enough to smoke all day, first aromatic I tried and I continue to return to it. It smolders really well while when you set your pipe down to cool. So I'll give this another go after dinner some night. It's a good smoke, and if it dries out I'm not out much. It's amazing the similarity between this tobacco and "captain black-dark" i think smokingpipes stole the patent from captain black ;)))))))) The tobacco is drier too. This along with Black Cordial and Butternut Burley are my aromatics standbys. Slow burn, cool burn, flavors great, chocolate for me. The tobacco was moist to the touch coming out of bulk and I smoked it that way with no air time, but I do recommend some air time for BCA. Might work better if blended with other flatter blends! For the cost, it is a great vanilla buy, but nothing I would stock up on and want to smoke on a consistent basis. Lane 1Q gets so much press, but I really think this is a nice quiet sleeper in their line up. Good for veterans and newbies. Lots of aromatics lose there flavoring around half way down, due to the casings heating up and running down to the heel of the pipe.
